The intensity and focus placed on boards by a variety of internal and external stakeholders is more amplified and heightened today than it has ever been.
We truly believe that a step-change needs to take place to ensure that creative leadership and thought diversity is provided to organisations specifically via Non-Executive Directors. This belief, together with our pure passion and genuine interest in this area, has driven our focus for Non-Executive Director searches. We identify experienced NEDs alongside high potential, aspiring directors who are ready for their first non-executive role, to provide real value in today's uncertain and volatile world.
Throughout our research study we received a significant amount of requests to focus further in this area due to our fresh perspective, in-depth experience of over 40 years combined and 'quoted' differentiator of providing thorough research and search service. This is complimented by our extensive global reach to identify the right directors, which will include a continued focus on female directors to join boards.
Now that we have completed the recruitment of new Trustees to our Board, I wanted to thank you and your colleagues for the outstanding job you did for us these last few months. It is a testament to your approach and professionalism that you took the time to understand us and our ambition. In the past I have worked with other Executive Search organisations and in my opinion you have exceeded them by a substantial margin. I cannot praise you and your colleagues highly enough and I know that this sentiment is shared by all of the original Board.

Improving board diversity in all forms brings innovation and is a continual requirement and focus for everyone. As such, identifying high calibre individuals for executive roles is paramount and the percentage of women on the boards of organisations is rising. Based on our personal knowledge and experience, coupled with the CIPD stating that over 80% of their membership is female, we see that the HR function is still dominated by women and that 40% of HR Directors sit on the boards of UK organisations.
Our global network of contacts have main board experience, with a large percentage on FTSE boards and other listed organisations, who already have NED roles and wish to increase their portfolio or a non-executive appointment via development and mentors who include some of the most experienced and diverse NEDs in listed and non listed organisations globally.
It was a pleasure to work with (Jo Sellwood-Taylor at) Mullwood Partnership to find a Non-Executive Director for the Mothercare board; the appointment clearly brings valuable experience to the board. They fully understood the brief, and the extensive reach at board level that Mullwood Partnership has, together with their dedication, speed of response and approach was unique. It was a truly enjoyable and highly successful experience. I look forward to working with them again in the future.
